Aljamain Sterling, who is coming off of a first-round knockout loss to Marlon Moraes, gets his chance to get back in the win column in front of a crowd near his Long Island roots come April 21. The Division III All-American wrestler has shown he has what it takes to jump the rankings in the UFC’s bantamweight division, as he rattled off four consecutive wins once signing with the UFC. Since then, Sterling has faced adversity, but still believes he is one of the best in the division and hopes to show it against an undefeated Johns.
The man that is yet to be beat in his professional career gets his toughest test yet, as Brett Johns hopes to keep his record clean here against Sterling. The Welshman has won three straight since signing with the UFC, with his best performance coming from his last time out, as he submitted Joe Soto in just 30 seconds. Johns put the division on notice after that 30 second victory, and gets exactly what he wants here in a top-10 ranked opponent. Aside from his submission of Joe Soto, Johns scooped up two unanimous decision victories in his first two bouts in the UFC. He hopes to score another performance-of-the-night bonus against Sterling and makes his way up the bantamweight rankings.
