Angelo Reyes on Frank Mir vs Fedor: “This is the Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson of the MMA generation” | Bellator 198

The Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix is well underway. MMA coach and striking expert Angelo Reyes joined us on Kobe’s Korner to preview (18-11) Frank Mir‘ upcoming bout against (36-5) Fedor Emelianenko. These two legends will meet as part of the opening round of the heavyweight grand prix at Bellator 198. Reyes took over as Mir’ head coach in November of 2014 and is excited to show off his star pupils new weapons which include a blend of boxing and Kempo karate. Both fighters bring decorated resumes to compliment stellar careers to date. Mir returns to combat sports for the first time since March 19, 2016. The former UFC heavyweight champ suffered a loss at the hands of Mark Hunt over 700 days ago. Fedor is also coming back to action off a loss. “The last emperor” was finished by fellow Bellator heavyweight grand prix participant Matt Mitrione at Bellator 194 in February of 2018.

Inside the video, above we discuss the “evolution” of Frank Mir, what version of Fedor we might see and the special relationship Reyes has harvested with Frank since they taking the reins four years ago. Chael Sonnen who defeated Quinton Jackson at Bellator 192, will face the winner of “Mir vs Emelianenko” in one of the tournaments semi-finals. A very well rested Chael Sonnen will be keeping a close eye on this one. This much anticipated first-round matchup will serve as your main event on Saturday, April 28th as part of Bellator 198.
