Artur Beterbiev vs Callum Johnson ordered by IBF per Eddie Hearn
According to Matchroom Sports managing director and English boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, the IBF have ordered their light-heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (12-0, 12 KO’s) to face Callum Johnson (17-0, 12-0 KO’s).

Beterbiev won the vacant title back in November 2017 against Enrico Koelling. Beterbiev, who carries power in both hands, is one of the most feared and dangerous men in boxing.
In Johnson, we have a fighter taking the step up to world level with wins so far being over limited opposition. Despite this, he has beaten everyone in front of him and looked impressive in doing so.
The news comes as a shock to many with many believing this is a step too soon for ‘The One’ who’s best win came in his last outing with a stoppage over fellow Brit Frank Buglioni.
Should the fight go ahead, it sees another chance for either; Beterbiev to prove he’s one of the elite and showcase just how dangerous he is, or for Johnson to send shockwaves through the division and prove he belongs at world level.
Though no official confirmation has yet come from either camp or the IBF, Hearn seems keen on the match-up and the fight will likely take place towards the end of the year.
