Boxing: Daniel Jacobs and Sergiy Derevyanchenko to Duke it Out at MSG on October 27th
Middleweight boxing just got a doozy of a fight. Former WBA Middleweight champ, Daniel Jacobs, is set to collide with Sergiy Derevyanchenko on October 27th in New York at the legendary Madison Square Garden. The stakes? The vacant IBF World Title vacated by Gennady Golovkin.
Daniel Jacobs is coming off a two-fight win streak beating Luis Arias and Maciej Sulecki after losing his WBA title to GGG back in March of 2017. Sitting at 34-2, Jacobs is sure to want to get that lost to Golovkin back on the world stage and recapture his belt.
Derevyanchenko is the Ukrainian phenom who is undefeated at 12-0. Eight of his twelve wins have been by KO or TKO. “The Technician” has made waves in the boxing world with his power and quick reflexes. A win over Jacobs, a former world champion, would put him in position for the next shot at current middleweight kingpin, GGG.

Big Drama Show
Back in April of this year, the IBF ordered Golovkin to fight Derevyanchenko as the mandatory contender for the title after the talks of a rematch with Canelo Alvarez broke down. Deciding to fight Vanes Martirosyan instead, the IBF made an exception for Golovkin. Once the fight was over, he was to fight Derevyanchenko immediately. As history shows, GGG and Canelo came to an agreement and the IBF stripped Golovkin of his world title, leaving it open and vacant for the Derevyanchenko and Jacobs bout.
With the future of the boxing world shaping up post GGG-Alvarez 2, we have a bright future ahead. With Golden Boy saying the winner of the Spike O’Sullivan and David Lemieux to get Canelo next and the Derevyanchenko-Jacobs fight possibly next in line at a crack at GGG, boxing fans sure have a lot to look forward to.
