Demetrious Johnson vs. Henry Cejudo II in the Works for UFC 227
According to Ariel Helwani, a championship rematch between flyweight king, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson (27-2-1 MMA, 15-1-1 UFC), and Henry “The Messenger” Cejudo (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) is reportedly in the works for UFC 227.
UFC is close to finalizing Demetrious Johnson vs Henry Cejudo 2 for UFC 227 in LA on August 4, sources say. Not officially signed yet but very much moving in that direction.

Johnson, 31, is the established champion of the UFC’s flyweight division. He first fought Cejudo, who was then undefeated, at UFC 197 in April of 2016. The champion halted the ex-U.S. Olympian’s winning streak with a vicious first-round TKO victory.
Since the successful title defense against Cejudo, Johnson has continued to clean out the division, defeating TUF 24 Season winner, Tim Elliott; jiu-jitsu ace, Wilson Reis; and the “Tazmexican Devil”, Ray Borg.
Johnson’s last fight, against the aforementioned Borg, took place at UFC 216 in October of 2017. “Mighty Mouse” has been inactive since, but rumors connecting him to a potential super fight with bantamweight champion, T.J. Dillashaw, persisted.
Dana White says Demetrious Johnson vs. TJ Dillashaw is happening. I asked "100%?" "Yeah, that fight's happening."

The proposed bout between Johnson and Dillashaw never came to be, and per Helwani, the UFC is targeting the Cejudo rematch.
Cejudo, also 31, is a former gold medalist in wrestling at the 2008 Olympic Games. Since his loss to Johnson, Cejudo has stayed active, facing three straight top ten opponents. Immediately following the title loss, he dropped a contentious, controversial decision to top-ranked Joseph Benavidez.
However, he quickly got back on track, putting on an exciting striking display against Wilson Reis. The diverse, flashy way in which he dispatched of Reis was followed by an equally dominant showing against Sergio Pettis, over whom Cejudo took a unanimous decision.

If the rematch comes to fruition, it will mark Cejudo’s second attempt at the title. For Johnson, it will offer the potential to be his (self) record-breaking twelfth consecutive title defense. If the matchup takes place on UFC 227, it will be on the same night as Dillashaw’s title defense against Cody Garbrandt.
It is entirely possible that should Johnson and Dillashaw win – which is by no means guaranteed – the rumored superfight between them would only grow in hype.
UFC 227, which takes place in Los Angeles, California, on August 4th, would now include:
- T.J. Dillashaw (c) vs. Cody Garbrandt (for the bantamweight title)
- Demetrious Johnson (c) vs. Henry Cejudo II (for the flyweight title)*
- Polyana Viana vs. JJ Aldrich
- Ricardo Ramos vs. Kyung Ho Kang
- Wuliji Buren vs. Bharat Kandare
- Bethe Correia vs. Irene Aldana
- Cub Swanson vs. Renato Carneiro
