EXCLUSIVE: Austin Arnett vs. Cory Sandhagen in the works for UFC Charlotte

Two exciting promotional newcomers eager and ready to introduce themselves to UFC fans.

With an injury forcing co-main event combatant Ilir Latifi out of next week’s UFC on FOX event in Charlotte, the UFC has elected to add an additional prelim bout to the night’s lineup.  Two high-action featherweights will make their promotional debuts against one another on just one week’s notice.

Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series” prospect Austin Arnett (15-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) announced on Sunday afternoon that he had signed with the UFC, leaving the question of who the 26-year-old karate based fighter would square off against.  MMA Today insider Shawn Bitter has confirmed with a source close to the situation that prospect Cory Sandhagen (7-1, 0-0 UFC) has also been inked to a UFC deal.  He will face off against Arnett this Saturday night.

“The Golden Boy”, Austin Arnett was featured on the UFC Fight Pass original, where he lost a unanimous decision to eventual contract earner Brandon Davis.  Despite the loss, Arnett put on a great showing in what turned out to be one of the best fights of the season.  Before the defeat, Washington’s Arnett was riding a huge 13 fight win streak.  The Michael Chiesa protege was scheduled to fight journeyman Drew Brokenshire on the 24th of February for Dominate FC.

Colorado’s Cory Sandhagen will be competing for the second time in just eight days.  This past weekend at LFA 31, Sandhagen finished Jose Aguayo by TKO just over one minute into round one.  Sandhagen is now on a two-fight winning streak with both finishes by TKO in the first round.
