EXCLUSIVE: Giga Chikadze vs. Youssef Zalal Slated for Contender Series June 19th

The June 19 edition of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series has added an banger absolute between two top featherweight prospects. Sources confirm to MMA Today that GLORY kickboxer Giga Chikadze (4-1) will take on Youssef Zalal (5-0) on the second episode of the sophomore season of the UFC Fight Pass original.

Hailing from Tbilisi, Georgia, but fighting out of Huntington Beach, California, Chikadze is most well-known for his success in professional kickboxing. Chikadze has a background in Kyokushin karate which led him to kickboxing with an impressive 38-6 record.

The Kings MMA product transitioned over to MMA in 2016, losing his debut by unanimous decision. Chikadze rebounded winning his next four fights via first round knockout.

His opponent, Zalal trains out of FactoryX Muay-Thai and holds a record of 5-0. He has a 100% finish rate and has fought twice for Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA).

Fighting out of Denver, Colorado, “The Moroccan Devil” is only 21 years of age. Zalal will look to stay undefeated on June 19th when he competes for a UFC contract.

Just like in every other pair of fighters matched up on the “Contender Series,” Chikadze and Zalal will have the chance to earn a UFC contract. Sitting cage-side will be White and UFC matchmakers: Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard. A win, however, does not guarantee Chikadze or Zalal a UFC shot. The most impressive performers on each card will be signed at the discretion of the UFC brass.
