EXCLUSIVE: Randa Markos vs. Nina Ansaroff in the Works for Potential Calgary Card

Canada's Randa Markos gets home country battle against rising strawweight Nina Ansaroff

On Tuesday afternoon, the first bout of July 27’s UFC on Fox card surfaced on the internet.  Combate reported former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo will be taking on top contender Jeremy Stephens.  Now, MMA Today has learned of a second bout.  Sources close to the situation say Randa Markos (8-5, 4-4 UFC) is expected to square off against Nina Ansaroff (8-5, 2-2 UFC) in a women’s strawweight battle.

Nicknamed “Quiet Storm,” Markos has alternated wins and losses for her entire eight fight UFC career.  She is currently 2-1 in her last three fights, and will look to make it two in a row against Ansaroff.  Markos last defeated Juliana Lima at UFC on FOX: Charlotte earlier this year.

Her opponent, Ansaroff, is riding a two fight win streak, with victories over Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger and Angela Hill.  The girlfriend of UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes, Ansaroff has reinvented herself after losing her firs two UFC bouts.  On paper, UFC matchmakers Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard have done a great job in matching these two combatants up!

The UFC schedule currently shows the UFC on FOX card being in Canada, but doesn’t list a specific city.  Sources say the current expectation is the card will land in Calgary, Alberta.  It will mark the first time the UFC has touched down in Calgary since UFC 149 back in 2012.
