EXCLUSIVE: Tim Means vs. Belal Muhammad in the Works for UFC Sydney
UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad (12-2, 3-2 UFC) finally has his next opponent and it’s going to be one hell of a fight. Originally scheduled to face recent Ultimate Fighter winner Jesse Taylor at UFC Fight Night: Sydney, Muhammad has gone seemingly weeks without an opponent since Taylor was flagged by USADA for a potential doping violation. According to MMA Today sources, the search for a new opponent has come to an end.
MMA Today has learned that a bout between Muhammad and fan-favorite Tim “The Dirty Bird” Means (27-8-1 1NC, 9-5 1NC UFC) is in the works for the Sydney event next month. Muhammad last competed in July at UFC 213 when he defeated Jordan Mein in convincing fashion. Prior to that, the 29-year-old Chicagoan defeated Randy Brown at UFC 208 in Brooklyn.
Means, on the other hand, most recently rebounded from a loss to Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira by defeating Alex Garcia at UFC Fight Night: Oklahoma City this past June. Both men will look to get a solid win streak going when they square off on November 18th. Looking at both men’s track records, it is safe to say that this bout is the early favorite to win the “Fight of the Night” award.
