FNG Sign Talented Nova Uniao Featherweight Felipe Froes
Fight Nights Global have signed another Brazilian, bolstering the ranks already held by Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva, Rousimar Palhares, Diego Brandao and light heavyweight champion, Fabio Maldonado.
Felipe Froes‘ signing with FNG marks the Russian promotion’s intentions of rapid and aggressive global expansion. And with an upcoming card hitting Sao Paulo in April, the signing of Froes was almost inevitable.
Felipe Froes (16-3-1) is a 26-year-old Nova Uniao product, who has learned his trade under the tutelage of ‘Dede’ Pederneiras, while training alongside former UFC champions José Aldo and Renan Barao.
While Felipe Froes may be signing with FNG coming off of a loss, it should be noted it was an extremely contentious split decision to WFCA’s featherweight champion Salman Zhamaldaev, who is better than a lot of the UFC’s roster of contracted featherweights. Froes holds a career best win over Zurab Betergaraev, and from 2013 through 2017, Froes went on an impressive nine-fight win streak. Something he will hope to emulate once his FNG career gets underway.
While Felipe Froes isn’t yet scheduled, expect the exciting Muay Thai convert to feature on the upcoming FNG 86 card in Sao Paulo, Brazil, April 14.
