Former ACB Champ Denis Goltsov to Headline RCC Card, Sergei Kharitonov vs. Joey Beltran Also Booked

Yet another Russian promotion is looking to grab up some valuable real estate on the regional scene, as Russian Cagefighting Championship (RCC, formerly Ratiborets) look to put on a bumper card featuring some top talent. (h/t @VestnikMMA).

Heading up the card will be former ACB heavyweight champion, Denis Goltsov, who is believed to be a free agent after his six-fight/two year deal expired. MMA Today is of the understanding that Goltsov’s contract ran it’s term after five fights as ACB couldn’t book him in time for a sixth fight within the contracted two year time frame.

Goltsov is an exceptional heavyweight talent who’s skills translate across both MMA and combat sambo, with Goltsov being a multiple-time champion and master of sports in the latter. Goltsov’s MMA record currently sits at 20-5, including a recent 4-1 run in ACB, where he won their coveted heavyweight title. Goltsov would eventually lose his belt to Mukhomad Vakhaev, in a contest where it’s rumoured he had food poisoning heading into the bout. He since returned to winning ways when he stopped UFC and Bellator veteran Chase Gormley in impressive fashion.

Goltsov will take on Bulgarian bruiser Atanas Djambazov (24-4) in the evening’s headliner.

The co-main event is set to feature former UFC and Bellator slugger Joey Beltran (17-14). The California native is looking to rebound from a two-fight skid in Bellator, but he has a tough task ahead of him. Beltran is set to fight former PRIDE veteran and current Bellator standout, Sergei Kharitonov, who holds wins over Andrei Arlovski, Alistair Overeem and Fabricio Werdum. Kharitonov (26-6) is currently riding the crest of a wave as he’s in the midst of an 8-1 run, including three successive first round stoppages.

The rest of the card makes for good reading as we see former Bellator bantamweight Luis Nogueira (21-7-1), one-time Fight Night Global (FNG) fighter Igor Zhirkov (7-2), M-1 Challenge and FNG veteran Nikita Chistyakov (7-4-1), and BAMMA veteran Damien Lapilus (16-9-1), all set to compete.

The full 15-bout card can be found via Tapology. It takes place at the KRK Arena in Yekaterinburg, Russia, on February 25.
