Injured TUF 27 Teammates Luis Pena and Richie Smullen to Face off at Finale
The TUF teammates will meet as foes come July 6th. The UFC announced today that Luis Pena, one of the most promising lightweight prospects in the world, will face Irish SBG prospect Richie Smullen.
Both of these fighters faced adversity and injury on TUF Undefeated. Smullen was never able to make it to the cage as his muscles cramped on him from over training, causing a forfeit loss. Luis Pena took to twitter to defend Smullen as he states the show didn’t do him justice in explaining what happened. Previous to TUF Smullen’s last fight ended in a draw.
I’m gonna set the record because they didn’t explain it well on the show Ritchie wasn’t scared or nervous and he didn’t just cramp up his muscles broke down releasing lactic acid into his bloodstream which eventually filtered through his kidneys damn near shutting down his body

Luis “Violent Bob Ross” Pena impressively defeated Jose Martinez Jr. via unanimous decision in his lone octagon appearance during his time at the house. Pena was forced out of the tournament with a foot injury which doctors couldn’t clear for continuing.
Luis Pena (4-0-0) vs. Richie Smullen (3-0-1) will be an interesting matchup. A chance for both these fighters to prove their worth after injury. Dana White made Pena a promise that he would allow him a spot on TUF finale card, and delivered. It is clear also that even though Smullen disappointed Dana, he has intrigued the president enough for a spot on the Finale card.
