McSweeney has competed for KSW twice before holding a 1-1 record, including a win over current champion, Marcin Rozalski. McSweeney has also fought for a number of other well regarded promotions such as Ring Of Combat, Legacy FC, BAMMA and ONE Championship, racking up a respectable 15-15 record.

Pudzianowski has carved himself a brilliant and lucrative career in life after strongman competitions. The man mountain has fought all but one of his 16 fight career under the KSW banner, with relative success. His career record stands at 11-5, with wins over Bob Sapp, Oli Thompson and Sean McCorkle thrown in there.

MMA Today has reached out to McSweeney’s camp to confirm the rumours.

KSW have since made the fight official. Mariusz Pudzianowski versus James McSweeney will headline KSW 40, which will be KSW’s inaugural event in Ireland.

KSW 40 will be held on October 22, at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The card currently boasts Mariusz Pudzianowski, Ariane Lipski, who will be defending her Flyweight title, and Mateusz Gamrot vs. Norman Parke, the former of which will be defending his Lightweight title in a rematch of May’s KSW 39 title fight.
