LFA 47: Best Bets – Featherweight Veteran on Notice
Legacy Fighting Alliance is back with another action packed Friday night of fights. In the main event, Damon Jackson takes on Nate Jennerman for the LFA Featherweight Championship in what should be an exciting matchup between two UFC-caliber fighters. There are slim pickings as far as being able to wager on this fight card but nevertheless MMA Today is here to make sure you can double up on your paycheck tonight!
Damon Jackson (-260)
Jackson is a veteran to this sport with a 15-2-1 record. Jackson’s only two losses have come against UFC welterweight Yancy Medeiros (on short-notice) and Contender Series Alumni and former LFA Featherweight Champion, Kevin Aguilar. Other than those two small blips on his record, Jackson has been absolutely sensational. He has finished 14 of his 15 wins, 12 by submission and two by knockout. Jackson is also coming off four consecutive finishes all by submission. His nickname “The Leech” suits him well as Jackson is relentless with his pursuit of the takedown and once he gets his opponent to the mat it is almost impossible to shake him off. Once the fight hits the mat he is in the world of his own where no one in the entire Featherweight division can compete. Jackson is a staple of red-hot Fortis MMA team in Dallas that has been producing UFC talent left and right.
Nate Jennerman on the other hand, is no slouch in any department whether it be in his stand up or his ground game. He has shown that he is very versatile and can win anywhere the fight goes. Jennerman is also a veteran of the sport much like Jackson with a 12-3 record with 2 of his 3 losses coming from Contender Series Alumni Bobby Moffett and Alex Gilpin. Jennerman has some vicious chokes that he searches for when given the opportunity. Jackson will have to be careful when shooting in for a takedown because Jennerman’s guillotine is absolutely no joke having finished five fights with it. Also Jennerman has been training with one of the best camps out there at Roufusport whom have been gearing him up for this title fight with Jackson. Expect a very intelligent gameplan here to try to stifle Jackson early to keep him from pushing forward.
As long as Jackson can push the pace and avoid the sneaky chokes of Jennerman, he should be able to control the fight right from the get go. Jennerman has showed that he doesn’t fare well against high-level grapplers in his two losses against Moffett and Gilpin. Expect Jackson to go in there and execute his gameplan flawlessly and get the submission in round two. While there might not be a lot of juice when it comes to taking Jackson, a suggestion (if you can’t afford to lay out so much money on Jackson) would be to parlay Damon Jackson and Levi Mowles at (-118). With that kind of line, there is need to place a large wager to make some money. Like always, wager responsibly and best of luck!
