Fishgold remained the best pound-for-pound fighter in the Cage Warriors roster for some time, both claiming and defending the lightweight title, and has been rewarded for this with a UFC contract, just a day before the scheduled UFC Fight Night 130 in Liverpool, England.
Despite campaigns for Fishgold to be scheduled for the event, nothing came to fruition but he now sees himself in the upper echelons of UKMMA with a move to the kingpin promotion.
With a near-perfect record of 18-1-1, Fishgold has proven himself time and time again as one of the best fighters that the UK has to offer, including his most recent victory over Alexander Jacobsen with a first-round submission.
The votes are in. @ChrisFishgold pulled off your Submission of the Year 2017! 👌
This 1st round finish secured Fishgold's third title defence, and marked him as a true Cage Warriors World Champion. Respect! 👏 pic.twitter.com/JRkBFYliy3

Chris Fishgold joins a plethora of UK talent and joins fellow teammate Molly McCann in making the transition. Though no date or event has been mentioned yet for where the Brit will debut; Hamburg, Germany in July may be a plausible option.
Wherever it may be, the UFC has another UK talent on their books. It is believed Fishgold will compete at featherweight after announcing the move down in weights recently.
