Luke Rockhold vs Chris Weidman Rematch Targeted for UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden

The UFC is targeting a middleweight bout between Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman both of whom are former champions for UFC 230 in New York City per Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

The PPV is set for November 3rd at the world famous Madison Square Garden. A main event for the card has yet to be announced.

This is a rematch of a title fight from UFC 194 where Rockhold defeated Weidman via 4th round TKO to take his Middleweight belt.

Rockhold (16-4) is coming off a loss to Yoel Romero back at UFC 221 in an interim title fight that was scheduled for five rounds but Roero only needed three to take out the former Strikeforce and UFC Champ.

Weidman (14-3) will be fighting in his “hometown” but hasn’t seen the Octagon since a submission win over Kelvin Gastelum in July 2017. A thumb injury has sidelined him.

Rockhold had been rumored to be considering a move up to Light-Heavyweight with good friend and training partner Daniel Cormier taking the super fight at Heavyweight vs Stipe Miocic and seemingly close to retirement. At least, for now, it looks like he’ll postpone that for another shot at Weidman.
