M-1 Challenge 85 Co Main Eventer, Nate Landwehr, Almost Pulled Due To Legal Issues

M-1 Challenge 85 co main eventer, Nate Landwehr, almost pulled due to legal issues, which could also affect his future with the promotion.

Regional standout and now M-1 Global competitor, Nate Landwehr, was almost forced out of his M-1 Challenge 85 bout against Viktor Kolesnik, as an open court case looked to derail his immediate career plans.

Back in August, Landwehr, of Clarkesville, Tennessee (9-2), was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). According to the Montgomery County online court records directory details of the case state that Landwehr was served a criminal warrant on August 4. He was bailed on a $2000 surety bond before being arraigned on the August 11. After an October 6 docket call, Landwehr’s court appearance was rescheduled and his case pushed back to November 6, where Judge Kenneth Goble was scheduled to preside.

Last Friday, November 3, a motion to continue was granted. At that stage a plea agreement could have been entertained by the courts but it appears no plea agreement was made. According to court records Landwehr’s case will now be proceeding to trial after the November 6, hearing was heard ‘off docket’. The trial date is scheduled for Jan 3, 2018.

With the case proceeding to trial it’s a possibility Landwehr could see the inside of a prison cell dependent on the leniency of the judge. Both Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication carry a maximum 30 day prison sentence and/or a $50 fine. Had a plea been reached at the November 6, hearing, it could have impacted his upcoming fight date with M-1. Landwehr’s M-1 Challenge 85 bout is currently still scheduled for November 10, and Landwehr traveled to Moscow on Sunday, November 5.

With a trial date being set for the following year it appears Landwehr has managed to circumvent any repercussions for now. If convicted it could affect his future with M-1 as Russian visa applications are notoriously scrutinous.

Landwehr signed a six-fight contract with M-1 Global in July, prior to his incredible come-from-behind debut victory over Mikhail Korobkov back in September.

Landwehr will be co-main event at M-1 Challenge 85, where he faces Viktor Kolesnik.
