Nad Narimani Gets Another Opponent Change, Faces ‘Berinja’ in Buenos Aires

Next weekend’s UFC Buenos Aires card has undergone yet another change. English featherweight Nad Narimani (11-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will now lineup against his third different opponent for the card.  Initially scheduled to face Peru’s Enrique Barzola, Narimani saw things switched up on him when Barzola was forced to withdraw due to injury and was replaced by newcomer Sergio Giglio. Now it’s Giglio suffering an injury and on just nine-days notice, Brazilian Anderson “Berinja” dos Santos (20-6 MMA, 0-0 UFC) gets the nod. Matheus Costa of MMA Brasil was the first to report the matchup change. UFC Fight Night 140 (UFC Buenos Aires) takes place November 17, 2018 from the Estadio Mary Terán de Weiss in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is unclear at this time where this matchup will be placed on the evening’s fight card.

Narimani, 31, has turned things around since a 2014 loss to one-time UFC signee Alex Enlund. He’s gone on to win four straight fights including a 2017 decision victory over the highly-touted Paddy Pimblett. After a last-minute cancellation for a bout with Nasrat Haqparast this past March, Narimani made his UFC debut in July, smothering German newcomer Khalid Taha en route to a unanimous-decision victory. Narimani has been training for this fight at the illustrious Team Alpha Male in Sacramento under the tutelage of UFC hall-of-famer Urijah Faber.

While “Berinja” is making his UFC debut, he’s far from inexperienced.  The 33-year-old Brazilian notched his 20th professional victory this past weekend at Thunder Fight 16 taking a decision over Aleandro Caetano (17-5 MMA). “Berinja” is the former Titan FC Bantamweight Champion, a title he captured from now UFC-fighter Ricky Simon in 2016. “Berinja” will be moving up to featherweight to take this short-notice opportunity against Narimani.
