Rumour: Darren Till vs. Gunnar Nelson to headline UFC London
Just a year on from Gunnar Nelson‘s emphatic victory over Alan Jouban in London, it’s rumoured that ‘Gunni’ will now face the rising force that is Darren Till, in the same capital he reigned victorious in last year.
The rumour, originally reported by Gunnar Nelson’s SBG coach John Kavanagh, outlays that the UFC are intending to put the two welterweights as headliners for the event, which up to that point had received negative feedback from fans, who’d showed their discontent at no headlining act being announced.
So @ufc have offered @GunniNelson v @darrentill2 main event #UFCLondon we've agreed so hoping to hear confirmation soon 🤜how do you guys like the match up? I'm reminded of the Thatch fight, big strong striker but I think Till is tougher challenge. One way to find out… pic.twitter.com/b7U81FpzBf

The pair conversed on Twitter, with both eventually agreeing to fight in London. The English 170lber quoted “It doesn’t f-cking matter son” in reply to where he’d like to fight Nelson.
With most fans and pundits alike being critical of the lineup the UFC have given London so far, this alleged match-up would go a long way to resurrecting the potential of the best British MMA event in years.
With the new fan favourite Darren Till having just demolished Donald Cerrone, many will be eager to see how he copes with the skill-set of the Icelandic star. Should the Liverpudlian win, it could perhaps send shockwaves through the welterweight division.
