UFC 224: Who Winners Should Have Called Out

A majority of the time there is a post-fight interview once a winner is announced. Some fighters get the question, “what next?” Some get “who would you like to fight next?” It’s important and many will agree that the fighter calls out someone else like Marlon Moraes when he called out Jimmie Rivera and when Ricky Simon called out Benito Lopez and the UFC booked it days after. Some make the mistake of giving the generic answer in “I’ll fight whoever the UFC gives me.” It’s important for the guys giving the interviews like Joe Rogan, Paul Felder, Jimmy Smith, and Daniel Cormier to ask the fighters to give them a name but even more important for the fighters to call someone out. Here are the call outs for the fighters following UFC 224.

Who failed to call someone out at UFC 224?

Markus Perez
Ramazan Emeev
Jack Hermansson
Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos
Oleksiy Oliynyk
John Lineker
Mackenzie Dern
Amanda Nunes

Some good quotes

Markus Peres: “Fighters have to fight. I’ll fight tonight. If anyone in the middleweight division needs a fight tonight I’ll fight again.”

In his post-fight interview with Jon Anik Alves says, “Colby the fake-ass Covington, I’m coming for you”

Making the callouts

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos

Imitation: “Five fight win streak for me now so a top 15 would be very good. Maybe I can fight Warlley Alves who just fought. I was supposed to fight Alves before we came to the UFC so I would try again and put on a good show.”

Oleksiy Oliynyk

Imitation: “Dana White (chuckles) I want to fight in my home country in Russia, I haven’t fought there in over four years. Maybe Mark Hunt would like to go to Russia with me and fight (grins). This is fun fight for fans and I’m getting old so I want anything that gets me to a title shot (chuckles.)”
