UFC Lincoln gets lightweight scrap between Drew Dober and Jon Tuck
After the recent announcement of Justin Gaethje vs Al Iaquinta being made official to headline the UFC’s third trip to the state of Nebraska, the card is continuing to take shape.
Another lightweight battle has now been added to the card as exciting prospects Drew Dober and Jon Tuck are set to clash for the August 25th event.
The Nebraska-born Dober will be coming home with a good deal of momentum behind him after a fight of the night win over Frank Camacho in January. This win put him on a two-fight winning streak and gave him four victories out of his last five(two KOs, two decisions).
Despite his last fight being at 170 pounds, Dober will be dropping back down to lightweight for this one.
For his opponent, Tuck this will be his first fight since June of last year when he defeated Japanese MMA legend, Takanori Gomi by first round submission.
It has been an oddly long UFC run for Tuck so far considering how under the radar it has been. The Guam native has been in the organization since 2012 and has had eight fights breaking even with a 4-4 record under the banner. Going above .500 will be just what the doctor ordered for the ‘Super Saiyan’.
Both men possess fan-friendly styles and the way that they match up should show it come fight night. If edges were to be handed out, striking power and strength in the grappling would go to Dober while Tuck may have a slight speed advantage with striking technique close to even. We’ll just have to see who can utilize their weapons best on the 25th.
The rest of the card currently looks like this (excluding the main event):
Middleweight – 185lbs: Andrew Sanchez vs. Antonio Braga Neto
Middleweight: Eryk Anders vs. Tim Williams
Bantamweight – 135lbs: Rani Yahya vs. Luke Sanders
