UFC Liverpool Co-Main Event with Neil Magny Saved by Newcomer Craig White
Neil Magny (20-7-0), the current 9th ranked welterweight was set to face off against Gunnar Nelson (16-3-1) at UFC Liverpool on May 27th. Nelson announced earlier in the month that a knee injury will keep him from performing in the upcoming event. In the world of MMA these things happen, the hunt for a replacement fighter began. That performer will be none other than Craig “The Thundercat” White (14-7-0)
The Team LionHeart fighter from Devon, England is stepping in to make his UFC debut on his own home court. White comes from a familiar setting for many UFC fighters, that being the promotion of Cage Warriors. The English fighter, a former Middleweight, dropped down to Welterweight where he has seen nothing but success and is riding a four-fight win streak into the battle with Magny. All four of those wins have come via stoppage, two by submission and two by TKO. All 14 of the 27 Year Old’s wins have come via stoppage.
Neil Magny is coming off one of his best performances of his UFC career with a unanimous victory over Carlos Condit. The American born fighter is looking to end the hot streak of White and welcome him to the UFC with a blemish on his welterweight resume. Magny is going to have his hands full with one of Europe’s prominent promotions product in White, but will most likely be the favorite entering the fight. Magny will need to rely heavily on his UFC savvy to show he means business in the welterweight division.
UFC Liverpool will air on May 27th and be headlined by Stephen Thompson Vs. Darren Till, the co-main will be Neil Magny vs. Craig White. The hometown heroes of White and Till will look to put the English crowd into insanity.
