Liverpudlian Danny Roberts Draws Oliver Enkamp at UFC London
The UFC’s March 18th Fight Night from London, England (UFC London) will be gaining some local talent. A welterweight matchup between Liverpool-native Danny “Hot Chocolate” Roberts (14-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) and Sweden’s Oliver Enkamp (7-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has been added to the card.
Fighting on home soil for the first time since 2016, Roberts will look to get back on track following a tough knockout loss to Canadian contender Nordine Taleb. Roberts, an impressive finisher, has had mixed success in the UFC. A triangle-choke submission victory over Nathan Coy was followed by a unanimous nod against Dominique Steele. A brutal knockout at the hands of the electrifying “Platinum” Mike Perry spoiled Roberts’ seven-fight winning streak.
“Hot Chocolate” was able to rebound with a solid second round TKO victory over Bobby Nash at Fight Night 113, but was unable to build momentum, falling to Taleb at UFC on FOX 26 last December. He’ll face a dangerous opponent in the 26-year-old striker, Enkamp.
With a professional record of 7-0 and a nation behind him, Oliver Enkamp was deemed the future of Swedish MMA and earned a shot in the UFC. Between his flashy striking attack and slick submission skills, Enkamp had picked up five victories inside the distance.
Like Roberts, Enkamp too drew Taleb as an opponent, taking the bout as a short-notice replacement for Emil Meek. Enkamp, while showing promise, was stifled by the more experienced Taleb, who utilized a stiff jab and heavy positional control to grind out a unanimous decision victory over the Swed (30-27, 30-27, 29-28). Enkamp will look to notch his first UFC win against Roberts in a bout that should showcase the best of these two exciting welterweights.
