Ketlen Vieira vs. Germaine De Randamie on Tap For UFC Event in Belem, Brazil

Per a report by Combate, UFC’s next event in Brazil has its first fight, a Bantamweight showdown between the surging Ketlen Vieira and Germaine De Randamie.

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen the former and inaugural UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion, De Randamie (7-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC). Last fighting in February when she won the belt against Holly Holm, De Randamie was supposed to make her return at UFC Fight Night 115 back in September in her home country of the Netherlands. Her opponent was scheduled to be Marion Reneau but De Randamie was forced out with an injury and replaced by Talita Bernardo.

This fight will be De Randamie’s first at Bantamweight since moving up in weight to capture UFC gold.

Ketlen Vieira (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) has completely burst onto the scene at 135 lbs. Only 26-years-old and already 3-0 in the UFC, Vieira has already established herself as one of Bantamweight’s best and potentially future stars with her wins over Sara McMann, Ashlee Evans-Smith, and Kelly Faszholz. Earning a win over a former champion (regardless of whom) and highly-talented striker in De Randamie would be huge for Vieira and very possibly earn her the next crack at UFC Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes.

That, of course, could be depending on how quickly Raquel Pennington recovers. Nonetheless, Bantamweight gets a bit more interesting with this matchup and it should be fun to see how things shake out in the once premier female division.
