So now is to see who is who inside the Octagon !! On September 29th I will show him my superiority in this super fight !!@bellatormmaI count on everyone’s cheer to maintain hegemony! Let’s do it all !! 👊🏼
Ironically, both men’s last times inside the Bellator cage saw them accepting defeat to Chael Sonnen.
For the former UFC champ, Rampage, his loss was as part of the opening round of the Bellator heavyweight Grand Prix in January. Silva’s being a bit longer ago as Sonnen beat him at the big Bellator 180 card in Madison Square Garden almost exactly a year ago.
‘The Axe Murderer’ Silva came into the Sonnen bout after a four-year layoff due to his suspension after fleeing from a drug test while still under UFC contract. Therefore Silva’s last victory was in the epic two-round war with Brian Stann at UFC on Fuel TV 8. He hasn’t lost two fights in a row since Rampage and Rich Franklin defeated him back to back in 2008-2009.
Rampage, on the other hand, hasn’t done too bad since the twos most recent encounter. Not amazing or anything, but 8-6 is better compared to Silva’s 3-4.
Both fighters are now in their 40s and the ends could soon be near for their great careers. While Silva didn’t clarify, a fight like this being a Bellator main event would be nothing new or surprising. Let’s just hope it can be at least half as good as any of their first three encounters.
