Welcome to the UFC: Hakeem Dawodu
In an exclusive interview with SI’s James Lynch, it was made official that Canadian and arguably the top prospect in MMA, Hakeem Dawodu (7-0-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has officially signed with the UFC. A date of his debut, the opponent, and a location is still unknown at the moment but expect around January or February, 2018. MMA Today’s Josh Mantle caught up with Dawodu last week to discuss the signing.

How I think Hakeem Dawodu does in the UFC:
Personally, Dawodu is my most anticipated fighter to make their UFC debut in years as I’ve been high on him for quite some time. Dawodu has fought good competition with his opponents having a combined record of 62-23-1 at the time. Dawodu has been tested, he was taken down, had his back taken, and even been rocked but Dawodu always got back up, he won the scrambles and he showed he can take a hit to give an even harder hit. I really expect a lot from Dawodu in the future and I guarantee by the mid-way next year you will see Dawodu as a top 15 fighter as he really hasn’t shown glaring flaws in his game. Dawodu hits very hard with excellent and dangerous counter-striking that can really put anyone in the division down. Dawodu usually doesn’t wrestle but he’s never had to since no one can match him on the feet. Not many fighters right now in the UFC Featherweight division can stand and trade with Dawodu due to his lethal power and striking weaponry. Dawodu has knees, elbows, leg kicks, and of course his hands. He really reminds me of a fresher and more aggressive Lorenz Larkin. Dawodu is someone to watch for!
