Welterweight Josh Kelly added to Usyk-Bellew Card
Welterweight prospect, Josh Kelly (7-0 5 KOs), has been added to the Oleksandr Usyk and Tony Bellew on December 8th. Kelly, a former Olympian, looks to improve 9-0 before the year is out. An opponent has yet to be named.
Kelly is already set to box on the tenth of this month against Walter Fabian Castillo, who is 13-2 with 3 knockouts. Kelly is expected to cruise to a victory over a fighter who has fought professionally more than he has.
Kelley is coming off of a seventh round corners stoppage of Kris George back in June of this year. With his unanimous decision win over Carlos Molina in March, a win this week would give him his third win of the year and a shot at a fourth this December.
Kelley’s opponent, Castillo, has dropped two of his last three and will be fighting away from his home country of Argentina for the first time. Castillo snapped his two fight skid in September when he beat Pablo David Battista.
Kelly competed in 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Jinero, losing to Daniyar Yeleussinov who would go on to win the gold medal. Josh Kelly also won bronze at the Euro championships as well.
Adding to a stacked card
Kelly joins a stacked card headlined by cruiser weight undisputed champion, Oleksandr Usyk and Tony Bellew in Manchester, England. Along with Usyk and Bellew, the card boasts Dave Allen against an opponent to be named, Scott Cardle and Ricky Burns squaring off, and a bout between Daud Yordan and Anthony Corolla.
Usyk looks to retain his undisputed title against Bellew in the highly anticipated match. Usyk has previously stated that he would like to move up to heavyweight and challenge heavyweight champ, Anthony Joshua, after the Bellew match.
