XFN 11 Results + Clips: Veteran stars Karlos Vemola and Ivan Buchinger dominate in Prague
Prague, Czech Republic – On Thursday, the O2 Arena in Prague played host to one of the most stacked cards in XFN’s two-year tenure as the Czech Republic’s top promotion. Several top-100 world ranked talents did battle, including a domestic superfight in the main event matching ACB veteran Patrik Kincl with six fight UFC competitor Karlos Vemola. Read on for recaps and clips from the top contests, plus results from the rest of XFN 11 from Prague.
XFN 11 Main Event @ 185 lb:
Karlos Vemola (21-5, #89 World LHW)
Patrik Kincl (19-9, #97 World)
“The Terminator” Karlos Vemola owned a noticeable size advantage in this domestic superfight versus Patrik Kincl, and he used that edge effectively with a big swing into a double leg takedown about a minute in. Once he had Kincl on the ground, the hulking Vemola was unmoveable. Vemola didn’t bother to pass guard but didn’t need to as he landed plenty of thudding ground strikes throughout round 1. Neither man gained much of an advantage or did much damage as the first half of round 2 played out on the feet. Once again, Vemola switched gears late and managed to score the takedown and ride out the round on top. Round 3 was much of the same, as the tiring Kincl managed to land a number of solid punches but just couldn’t keep Vemola from putting him on the mat for the latter part of the round. After three frames of action, Karlos Vemola’s wrestling assault was rewarded as he earned a unanimous decision victory to cap XFN 11 and assert his status as the top middleweight in Czech MMA.

XFN 11 Co-Main Event @ 145 lb:
Ivan Buchinger (34-6, ex M-1 & Cage Warriors champ, #62 World)
Submission – D’Arce Choke, Round 2
Jaroslav Pokorny (14-7, 0-1 ACB, #189 World)
This turned into the classic striker-versus-grappler matchup as Jaroslav Pokorny shot for, and achieved, multiple takedowns in round 1. But former M-1 champ Ivan Buchinger refused to be controlled as he scrambled to his feet each time and made Pokorny eat fists during their brief moments at distance. In round 2 Pokorny shot immediately, but Buchinger was ready and scrambled toward the back. When Pokorny left his neck available while defending, Buchinger immediately latched on a D’Arce choke! Pokorny couldn’t defend and was forced to tap, awarding the round 2 submission victory to Ivan Buchinger. That’s two straight wins for Buchinger as he continues to prove that he’s still a force to be reckoned with at world class level.

XFN 11 Middleweight Title Bout:
Makhmud Muradov (16-6, #132 World)
TKO, Round 2
David Ramirez (6-4, #58 W. Europe)
XFN middleweight champion Makhmud Muradov‘s only loss in the last three years came via injury TKO versus David Ramirez back at XFN 2, and he was eager to enact revenge as he swung his fist into Ramirez’ face before taking him down seconds into the rematch. Muradov controlled most of round 1 from top, and when Ramirez scrambled the Uzbekistani headhunted with vicious hooks throughout an aggressive first frame. A huge straight punch found the mark when Muradov countered a naked kick at the open bell of round 2. Ramirez hit the deck and never recovered, and Muradov didn’t give him much chance as he flurried with ground and pound that forced the Brazilian to turtle up against the cage. Muradov picked up his fifth straight win in impressive fashion, while Ramirez suffered defeat for the third consecutive fight.
